Chinese automaker XPENG has officially launched its G6 electric SUV in Malaysia, available in two variants priced competitively at RM165,000 and RM185,000, respectively.
XPENG is known as one of the most innovative Chinese EV makers, and the G6 is built on their latest-generation electric vehicle platform, Smart Electric Performance Architecture 2.0 (SEPA 2.0). This model features the latest construction techniques, such as mega casting for the front and rear, making it part of a new breed of electric vehicles that challenge not just automotive technology but also the very nature of car manufacturing.

The G6 benefits from XPENG’s advanced 800-volt architecture, which promises shorter charging times, potentially allowing the battery to go from 10% to 80% in just 20 minutes.
The two variants, G580 Pro and G755 Pro, offer a choice between Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) and Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) batteries, each with distinct advantages.

The G580 Pro, priced at RM165,000, comes with a 66kWh LFP battery that provides a range of up to 435 km on a single charge and can charge to 80% in 20 minutes. Its electric motor produces 255 hp and 440 Nm of torque, enabling the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 200 km/h.
Meanwhile, the RM185,000 G755 Pro features a higher-performance NMC battery with a capacity of 87.5kWh. Notably, both vehicles weigh the same, despite the NMC battery being 10 kg lighter than the LFP version. This allows both variants to maintain the same weight and achieve the same charging time of 20 minutes from 10% to 80%.

With the larger battery capacity, the G755 Pro unlocks additional power from the motor, delivering 282 hp while maintaining 440 Nm of torque. This allows the G755 Pro to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds, with a top speed also capped at 200 km/h.

XPENG attributes the fast charging capabilities of the G6 to its advanced thermal management system. The vehicle uses a heat pump system to transfer heat from the battery to the cabin, improving overall energy efficiency. The heat pump air conditioning system is more efficient than the traditional condenser and evaporator setup, further enhancing the vehicle’s energy efficiency.
The G6 is equipped with the XPILOT 2.5 driver assistance system, featuring high-definition sensors and cameras that enable a comprehensive safety suite. This includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Centering Control, and Autonomous Emergency Braking. Additionally, a mobile application allows for remote vehicle control, such as checking vehicle status, locking/unlocking doors, and advanced parking assistance.

The cabin focuses on comfort with eco-friendly materials, ergonomic seating, and advanced technology. Key features include dual wireless charging pads, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, the XFreeBreath air purification system, Xmart OS 5.0 with a 14.96-inch central control screen, and a 10.2-inch digital dashboard.
The infotainment system supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an 18-speaker XOpera surround audio system with a total output of 960W.

Bermaz, the distributor of XPENG in Malaysia, offers the G6 in five exterior colours: Midnight Black, Silver Frost, Arctic White, Graphite Gray, and Fiery Orange, with interior options in Black and Grey.
The G6 comes with a 5-year manufacturer warranty (or 120,000 km) and an 8-year high-voltage battery pack warranty (or 160,000 km).
