The Toyota GAZOO Racing World Rally Team is gearing up to tackle the frosty tracks of Rally Sweden, the only pure winter event in the FIA World Rally Championship, from February 15-18.
Having clinched their maiden victory in Sweden back in 2017, the team is no stranger to success on snow and ice. With four wins out of six starts in Sweden, including a double podium at Rallye Monte-Carlo last month, the team is poised for another strong performance in the second round of the 2024 season.

Two-time world champion Kalle Rovanperä will kick off his 2024 WRC campaign in Sweden, aiming to build on his victory in 2022. He’ll be joined by Elfyn Evans, who secured his first win with the team in Sweden in 2020, and Takamoto Katsuta, who has also shown promise on the wintry stages in the past.
Adding to the lineup is Lorenzo Bertelli, driving a GR Yaris Rally1 HYBRID as part of TGR-WRT’s customer program. With Rally Sweden being one of his preferred events, Bertelli brings valuable experience to the team.
In WRC2, seven GR Yaris Rally2 cars will hit the Swedish stages, showcasing Toyota’s commitment to grassroots rallying. The event’s move north to Umeå has ensured extreme winter conditions and faster roads, with special studded tires providing exceptional grip.

Commenting on the team’s preparations, Team Principal Jari-Matti Latvala expressed optimism about their chances, emphasizing their familiarity with the winter conditions and dedication to reclaiming victory. Rovanperä, Evans, and Katsuta echoed this sentiment, highlighting their excitement and determination to excel on the snow-covered tracks.
As Rally Sweden promises thrills and challenges, Toyota GAZOO Racing is ready to showcase their prowess and vie for the top positions amidst stiff competition on the icy Scandinavian stages.
