Volvo is set to launch its new all-electric small SUV, the Volvo EX30, which embodies the best of Scandinavian design. The EX30 not only prioritizes safety and sustainability but also aims to enhance convenience, relaxation, and enjoyment through cutting-edge technology and considerate design.

The interior of the EX30 showcases sustainable thinking with a stylish blend of materials that enhances the graphic design. Recycled and renewable materials such as denim, flax, and wool are used, offering responsible design at the core. The interior also features a contextual user experience, simplifying interactions for a more focused and enjoyable driving experience on a single screen. Unique storage solutions, including a soundbar spanning the width of the dashboard, maximize space and create a big-car experience in a compact package.

Lisa Reeves, Head of Interior Design at Volvo, explains that the EX30 combines the best elements of Scandinavian design, incorporating new materials to add texture, color, and personality to the cabin. The smart functionality and excellent user experience are synonymous with Volvo’s creations, making the EX30 a true representation of the brand.

The EX30 introduces several innovative storage features. The soundbar, inspired by home audio design, consolidates multiple speakers into one component, resulting in a seamless integration into the cabin while creating additional storage space by eliminating the need for door speakers. Furthermore, the window switches have been relocated to the center console, and the glove compartment is placed beneath the center screen for easy access. The versatile center console offers sliding functionality, allowing customization of storage space, and includes features like cupholders that can be adjusted to hold a latte or a smartphone. Additional storage compartments cater to small items, while dedicated pockets in the front seatbacks and a sliding storage box beneath the center console cater to the convenience of rear passengers.

The EX30 boasts a centralized approach with a single 12.3-inch center screen that contains all relevant information for the driver. This not only saves on materials but also creates a feeling of space within the vehicle. The screen offers a “calm” view, minimizing distractions by displaying only essential information, particularly useful during nighttime driving. The infotainment system includes Google Assistant, Google Maps navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay functionality, and access to favorite apps on Google Play. With 5G capabilities where available, the EX30 ensures an ultra-responsive in-vehicle experience.

When choosing the Volvo EX30, customers can opt for one of four distinct interior “rooms” that showcase a sustainable approach to materials. These rooms offer unique expressions, with options including denim incorporating recycled denim waste, recycled plastic made from old window frames and roller shutters, flax derived from renewable fibers, a responsibly sourced wool blend with recycled polyester, and a structured knit seat material featuring recycled plastic. Additionally, an upholstery option called Nordico utilizes textiles made from recyclables and bio-attributed material sourced from forests in Sweden and Finland.

The new Volvo EX30 will be unveiled on June 7, and orders or pre-orders will be available in selected markets starting from the same date.
