Volvo unveils all-electric EX90 Excellence with luxury features and comfort

  • Limited edition variant of the EX90 with two rear individual seats
  • Fridge, massage function, fragrance dispenser, and mood lighting for ultimate comfort
  • State-of-the-art technology base for safety and infotainment, 650 km range on a single charge

Volvo has unveiled its new all-electric car, the Volvo EX90 Excellence, a limited edition and top-of-the-line variant of the Volvo EX90. The car takes luxury travel to the next level, with special features and amenities that cater to the needs of the most discerning passengers.

Externally, the Volvo EX90 Excellence has a two-tone colour scheme, specially designed 22-inch forged rims, and subtle tweaks that give it an even more confident and sublime look compared to its seven-seater sibling. But the real change happens inside the car.

The back-row seats have been removed and replaced with two individual seats, equipped with comfortable soft pillows. In between the seats, there’s a fridge where passengers can store a large bottle to quench their thirst with an ice-cold beverage at any time.

The centre console features a touch panel with comfort control, allowing passengers to adjust the seat heating (choose from three levels) and a massage function (five different levels). There’s also a large Orrefors crystal piece that controls a fragrance dispenser, supporting up to three different fragrances, and corresponding mood lighting around the cabin for a relaxing experience.

Material-wise, the EX90 Excellence comes with either a tailored wool blend or a Nordico upholstery, created from textiles made from recycled material such as PET bottles and bio-attributed material from forests in Sweden and Finland.

Technologically, the EX90 Excellence benefits from the same advanced technology base that was revealed on the Volvo EX90 last year. The car is powered by the NVIDIA DRIVE® in-car computing platform with Xavier and Orin system-on-chips, Snapdragon® Cockpit Platforms from Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., and in-house developed software by Volvo engineers, which runs the key functions inside the car, from safety and infotainment to battery management.

The car is the safest four-seater Volvo has ever built, with an invisible shield of safety enabled by the latest sensing technology, inside and outside, as well as lidar technology as standard from Luminar and a groundbreaking driver understanding system. The car also features a highly intuitive infotainment system with a 14.5-inch centre screen and a Bowers & Wilkins High Fidelity audio system, enabled with Dolby Atmos for an uncompromising 3D surround sound experience.

With its twin electric motors and all-wheel drive, the EX90 Excellence offers a smooth driving experience and a range of up to 650 kilometres under the CLTC driving cycle on a single charge. The car will be offered in China first, as the Chinese market is hugely important to Volvo and the EX90 Excellence is created to meet demand for high-end, chauffeur-driven cars.
