Gran Max Remains Malaysia’s Top Light Commercial Vehicle with Upgraded Features

  • Gran Max Panel Van maintains the top best-selling variant and highest contributor to Daihatsu Malaysia’s overall sales in 2022 with 54%.
  • Steady growth of Daihatsu service intakes in comparison to 2021 and for the past 5 years.

Despite a challenging year for the auto industry with supply chain disruptions and economic slowdown, Daihatsu Malaysia has posted strong sales figures for the year 2022, with a total of 1,190 units sold.

This performance has earned the Gran Max model the title of Malaysia’s No.1 Pick-up & Panel Van in the light commercial vehicle segment (below 2.0L).

Daihatsu says the strong sales are attributed to the June 2022 introduction of the Gran Max Minor Change (MC) and consistent fleet support.

The vehicles received a minor change last year, adding features such as power windows, a multimedia player system, a reverse camera, and fast charging USB ports.

Arman Mahadi, Managing Director of Daihatsu (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd, credited the Gran Max’s success to its focus on providing comfort, reliability, safety, and practicality in every drive. Mahadi expressed gratitude to customers and business associates for their support and overcoming a challenging year together.

Daihatsu Sees Steady Growth in Service Intakes Amidst Pandemic Challenges

Despite the slowdown in service activity caused by the pandemic lockdown in 2020, Daihatsu has seen a steady increase in its service intakes over the past five years.

This trend aligns with the company’s steady overall sales in 2022 and consistent fleet sales support over the past three years. Daihatsu attributes this success to its comprehensive service retention program, which is specially designed for its dedicated fleet customers.

According to the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), there was a 25% increase in the number of registered commercial vehicles in 2022, with a total of 78,885 units registered. This growth in sales indicates a positive trend in the commercial vehicle market, as companies invest in anticipation of an economic rebound following the slowdown caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

In light of this positive trend, Daihatsu Malaysia is eager to move forward with its business transformation plan and dealer network expansion in 2023, which includes expanding into northern, southern, and eastern Malaysia.

As the exclusive distributor of Daihatsu commercial vehicles in Malaysia, the company prioritizes expanding its customer reach to reach new customers and maintain its competitive standing among market leaders.

At Daihatsu Malaysia, the company is committed to providing durable vehicles, reliable products, and top-quality aftersales service to its customers. The satisfaction of customers, dealers, and business partners is a top priority, as the company believes that a happy customer leads to trust, loyalty, and investment.

“At the end of the day, what matters most is making our customers, dealers, and business partners happy and well-satisfied,” said Arman. “Putting a smile on their faces will naturally result in trust, loyalty, and investment. We are forever grateful to our valued customers and associates for their continued support.”
