Would you buy a Peugeot pickup truck?
The last Peugeot pickup truck I can remember was the 505 but I haven’t spotted any in Malaysia.
Introducing a Peugeot brand of pickup will be quite a challenge for Bermaz Auto as this is a brand that is typically associated with French style and idiosyncracy rather than butch practicality.
Besides I wouldn’t have thought that the Malaysian pickup truck market is chock full opportunities, although it is the biggest commercial vehicle segment, the size is rather limited and dominated by a couple of models.
That said, we have seen a few China brands coming in to take a piece of the pie and even Mazda is offering their BT50 to pickup truck buyers. Maybe pickup truck buyers are crying out for variety.
The Landtrek is a mid-size pickup that will be available through Bermaz Auto Alliance Sdn Bhd (BAASB), the sole distributor for the PEUGEOT brand in the country. This is the first time the Landtrek will be available in the Asia Pacific region.
The Landtrek offers a new choice for customers in Malaysia, known for its ruggedness and adaptability to meet both professional and family needs.
The design of the Landtrek is both functional and stylish, able to handle tough terrain while also being suitable for outdoor leisure activities. The vehicle comes equipped with state-of-the-art onboard technologies, advanced adaptability, and an SUV-like driving experience.
The Landtrek is built on a mid-size pickup truck platform jointly developed by PSA and Chinese automaker Changan Automobile, in Chine they offer it under a sub-brand as Kaicene F70 since 2019.
The Landtrek was introduced to the French and European market in 2020.
The exterior design of the Landtrek is strong and alluring, fitting in with PEUGEOT’s current vehicle lineup. It features the brand’s signature vertical grille with the PEUGEOT Lion emblem in the center and LED signature lighting.
The PEUGEOT Landtrek offers a stylish and functional interior, featuring a 10-inch HD screen on the dashboard and innovative toggle switches for easy access to all functions.

The rear seating features a folding backrests on the modular rear bench seats in the Double Cab version.
The vehicle is powered by a 1.9-litre turbo diesel engine with 150 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, delivered through a 6-speed automatic transmission.
During the Media preview, two vehicles were on display, both wearing 18-inch alloy wheels while featuring a sports bar, roof rails and a regular tailgate.
Both units have the same specifications, and while one of the display unit did not appear to have any bed liners, the final version will all be delivered with bedliners.
While the exterior has been given significant remodel to align with Peugeot design language, the interior of the Landtrek is very similar to the Changan model.
In jointly developed vehicles, manufacturers typiucally make a decision how much differentiation they would offer and in this case they decided to design a fairly modern interior that would look believable as a Peugeot.
Apart from a 10-inch touchscreen, the infotainment system comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a two-spoke steering wheel, and the mandatory Peugeot look piano key-style switches on the centre stack.

Additional features include powered front seats, dual-zone climate control with rear vents, a 360-degree camera, leather upholstery, a multi-info display, keyless entry and start, six airbags, ABS, EBD, brake assist, ASR (traction control), hill start assist, hill descent control and lane departure warning.
Bookings for the new PEUGEOT Landtrek are now open, with an estimated starting price of RM 123,000.00 and it will be available soon.
