
Honda Malaysia announced today that it was the number one car brand in the Non-National Passenger Vehicle Segment for the ninth year in a row!
The company sold more than 80,200 cars in 2022, achieving its sales goal of 80,000 cars. The City, City Hatchback, and HR-V were the top three best-selling models.
Ther overall leader in the non national segment is Toyota which also has a sizeable commercial vehicle business and dominates the pickup truck market with their perennial Hilux.
Honda Malaysia’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Hironobu Yoshimura said that despite a challenging year with global chip shortage and floods, the company was able to shift into higher gears and exceed its sales target.
He thanked its customers and dealers for their support and the Malaysian Government for the extension of sales tax exemption.
The company’s success was in part due to the launch of the Civic in January, the HR-V in July, and the Civic e:HEV RS in November.
The City was the most popular model, contributing 36% to the overall sales. The Central region had the highest number of sales at 51%, followed by the Southern and Northern regions at 19% and 17% respectively.
Honda Malaysia will continue providing the best quality products and services for customers. The company is confident that 2023 will be another exciting year with healthy competition in the industry.
